Palm Springs, California Amanda Thorne knows the housing market is murder due to the bubble burst, but had not known how literally true that proved when she had her first listing as an independent realtor (see Three Bedrooms, Two Baths, One Very Dead Corpse). With sales nonexistent, Amanda is elated with the opportunity to sell multimillionaire Ian Forbes’s mansion.

Allegedly dying from cancer, the hair-care guru Ian arranges for a reality show on the Q network to be held at his mansion. Ian will choose from contestants, of whom some he has had affairs with, as his heir. The rivals prove nasty towards each other and mutually ridicule Amanda. When someone murders two of the contestants, the survivors are gleeful as their chances of winning improve. Amanda assists her boyfriend homicide detective Ken Becker on the investigation while her ex-husband gay Alex assists her.

The second Amanda Thorne mystery is an amusing whodunit in which the realty TV supersedes the sleuthing. The storyline focuses more on the ridicule and insults thrown back and forth as grenades between the players than on the inquiry. Still fans will enjoy this humorous lampooning of realty TV as Amanda showcase once again A Not So Model Home.
