In New York geneticist Felix Rossi stole two threads with DNA from the Shroud of Turin in order to create a Jesus clone. He selected his Harlem maid Maggie Johnson as Mary (see The Jesus Thief). However, some people find Maggie’s now ten year old son Jess a devilish abomination and kill him (see The Secret Madonna). Still mourning for her son, Maggie is pregnant and will soon marry the father she hates Sam Duffy.

Ex butler Luis Tepiltzin Moctezuma inherited a lot of money that does not ease the grief for family members dying while crossing the border and anger for the Americans who let them die. He plans to use his wealth on his “Reconquista” plot to take back the land America stole from Mexico. As such, he hires ex-hooker Coral Anders to kidnap Maggie’s baby as a key element in his scheme.

The third part Maggie Johnson thriller is a deep tale that provides a fresh look at the illegal immigration issue from a Mexican perspective. The cast is solid as Maggie questions her faith, Sam lives more completely in his past, and Luis thirsts for vengeance with the destruction of America. Thus it behooves the audience to read the previous novels to learn how key players got to their current emotional state. The Sacred Impostor is a strong saga as the lead trio and Coral seemingly have lost their faith.
