Reverend Tom “Father” Christmas, accompanied by his tweener daughter Miranda, became vicar of St. Nicholas Church in Thornford Regis. Though only residing at the village for a few months, the Christmas pair finds life calming after dealing with the homicidal death of his wife/her mom. This sense of serenity remains strong even though Father Christmas investigated a murder (see Twelve Drummers Drumming).

Cricket coach of a team of teens, Will Moir publically explodes at player Harrison Kaif during practice. Almost immediately following the rage, the humiliated fourteen year old Harrison commits suicide. Soon after the teen’s death, someone poisons Moir. The police suspect Harrison’s family killed his tormentor. Meanwhile Father Christmas tries to comfort those grieving while also slyly investigating the murder.

The second “Father” Christmas is an enjoyable English village amateur sleuth starting a unique single dad-widower who collects data in an atypical empathic way as he chats with the villagers. Readers will relish the protagonist’s investigative technique, which provides insight into the psyche of the residents inside of a fabulous cozy.
